The fact of the matter is that I don't have an extra keyboard or mouse laying around my home. My office at school is a different story but that is a few hours away and drive up there would not be very cost effective for a simple mouse and keyboard. What is a guy to do?
The answer: Follow the guidelines set up by the technology article within a wonderful news site that I've been trying out for the past few weeks. Associated Content (AC for short) is a great site that is completely user written and seems to function along the lines of independent papers throughout Europe. There is no political influence and my overall consensus is that this site seems to be more or less a collection of professional blogs/ journalist articles.
The technology article is found here and gives fairly clear directions on how to set up a dual computer connection with the help of a simple connection piece known as KVM micro switch.
I've had an entry similar to this one that can be found here that utilizes a program known as Synergy but requires multiple monitors (which I unfortunately don't have).
Give the article a read and please check out Associated Content if you are interested in finding a lot of news articles without the political left wing and right wing influences of some of the major news sites.
Enjoy and I'll let you know how it works!
Have a great day!
