Through most of the tech blogs yesterday, it was announced that some genius has created a way to integrate Google Gears into Blogger to allow for offline blogging entries. blog.gears anyone? How amazing is that?
The simplified version of this breaks down as follows:
- Google Gears is a Google Labs work in progress that allows for users to access web pages across the Internet. It, in turn, saves the appropriate page to your computer and allows you to view and access the page in its entirety without having a connection. From personal experience, it works wonderfully with Google reader while working offline on airplane or in the car (while someone else is driving of course). You can find the page to download this great tool here. Tutorials are available as well.
- Blogger is the Google owned blogging service that lacks the wonderfully easy and beautiful customization capabilities of other services such as Wordpress. The reasons I use it: 1) It's back by Google. 2) I've modified it to my own liking. 3) It's backed by Google. Wait, did I mention that already?
When you mix the two together, you get a wonderfully easy interface that allows you to blog offline at any time and it's called blog.gears.
As I've evolved in the blogosphere, I've found that quality of content rather than quantity provides for a better blog so when I receive an epiphany on what to write about but I don't have an Internet connection, I can still write my blog and publish it as soon as a connection is established.
Give this great innovation a try and congrats to whoever made this one possible! I know that it is still in beta but I love it already! Nice work!
I could be wrong and this could be just a failed attempt to revive Blogger but I doubt it! Prove me wrong!
Don't forget to link up, Digg me and subscribe!
Have a great day!

Do bloggers have a lobbyist?
I've been reading that Google has just instated an in-house lobbyist in Washington D.C. Basically, someone who keeps Google's best interests at hand and doesn't mind throwing a little money around (legally) to help keep it that way.
Now my question is, as a blogger, do I have someone keeping the proverbial eye out for me in Washington?
Yes, I know that my congress men and women represent me and my rights as an individual of a great state and nation, but what about my rights online that flow across borders? Anyone can read what I write and with the growing popularity and clarity in what the blogosphere has to offer for news, it seems as if maybe there should be some representation for the millions of bloggers out there!
Is it just me or have bloggers basically been skipping through the cracks of the law and posting whatever they want without guidelines and restrictions? Granted, the Internet and World Wide Web were designed for the purpose of free flowing information that is easily accessible to users, but what happens when one or two or several hundred bloggers take it too far? Who is going to be there to provide adequate representation and pull for the bloggers?
Am I the only person to have thought of this? PROVE ME WRONG....please!

iPod Touch Complaints...ALREADY!
Everyone who is anyone with a television, radio, computer or a brain knows that Apple will be releasing a new iPod called iPod Touch in a few weeks. This announcement came yesterday after a lot of skepticism and hype throughout the blogosphere and traditional media.
The new iPod is basically the iPhone without a phone. You can connect to the Web, listen to your iTunes songs, download songs from any wireless internet (WiFi) hot spot, and basically have all the wonderful things that iPods and BlackBerry/Smartphones offer without e-mail. All of that for a small price tag of $300-400. Sounds great, right? HECK YES!
Well after some searching through blog reactions, I've found a site/blog that has accumulated some of the very negative aspects of the new iPod and I'm just shocked.
The site Times Online has a Blogger Reaction page dedicated to this already. It is British but they are getting the same product and I loved Great Britain during my trip so I found this to be very valid.
The reactions came as shock because so many bloggers were already complaining about the iPod Touch and they haven't even used it.
Here is my reasoning for all the bloggers that have failed to think before they wrote:
- To all those who are complaining about the size of the hard drive (8-16 GB), think about it! They are including a wireless connection with this iPod. That takes battery life. Having a huge hard drive, a wireless connection, a Safari browser, a Mac OS X system and the bathroom sink in this iPod would be pretty much IMPRACTICAL for mobile use. If the battery only holds a charge for an hour because you want a 60GB hard drive, what's the point of having it?
-To all those who are complaining about a lack of games. Seriously? My guess for the reasoning behind a lack of games is the simple fact that games are available through the iTunes store. Apple has to make money too! They have to make money so they can keep coming up with incredible products. Basic common sense here people.
-To those who are complaining about a lack of an e-mail client. Nothing has ever been said about not developing an e-mail client for the iPod Touch. As far as I know, nothing has ever been put down in terms of using web-based e-mail services either!
The product hasn't been released yet and it was announced yesterday, how can you be critical already? Think before you write! This product is something that will help revolutionize the way we work, play, listen to music and access the Web. Could my opinion be wrong? Could my argument against all those who are downgrading a product that hasn't been released be mistaken? Both questions could have a possible resounding answer of YES but I highly doubt it.
